Pilgrimage to Villa Vrindavan, Italy

May 19, 2007 · 7 Comments

Hare Krsna! I came a couple of days ago from Florence where I spent over a week. I had the good fortune of getting the undeserved mercy of HH Radhanath Swami Maharaja once again. It was an unforgettable experience. Many wonderful things took place on this pilgrimage…

I don’t have pictures of the whole week because I forgot the charger of the camera, so please, if there is any devotee who has some pictures, specially of the Harinam in Florence, I would be most grateful to receive them. My email is satoxi@gmail.com
Thank you very very much.

Now enjoy the Tour…

I arrived on Thursday night and my friend Adbhuta Datri went to receive me with her husband Mohan Prabhu and some other devotees, Prana Nitai and Dodo Prabhus. They were very exhausted because they had been all day driving. Thank you very much. It was very nice to see all of you there :)

Actually the main reason to go to Italy was seeing Maharaja but also Adbhuta, whom I met in India and became my best friend. I’m missing you my dear friend!!!

The next day we were all day around the temple waiting for Radhanath Maharaja and having a nice time chanting on the beautiful gardens of Villa Vrindavan and meeting the old and new friends…

My new friend Dragana and Nairvani… thank you for your association :)

Adbhuta in separation…

Finally, around 14:30 Maharaja was about to arrived so we gathered to welcome him with a blissful kirtan…

And He arrived… and went to have darshan…

I didn’t have any close up of the deities but I found some pictures of Sri Sri Radha Vrajasundara, Jagannath Baladeva adn Subhadra and Gaura Nitai on internet… (this was the Sunday darshan, it was Ekadasy)…

Kirtan went on and on…

And then Maharaja spoke…

I was veeeery very happy…

And also HG Matsya Avatar Prabhu spoke…

Maharaja was discussing “Daksa curses Lord Siva” (from Srimad-Bhagavatam, Fourth Canto, Chapter 2 - click here to read the entire chapter) during the whole week. He gave very enlightening lectures. All the devotees were very affected by his transcendental words…

Adbhuta and I hearing…

Some kirtan pictures…

Here is where we took prasadam…

I was charmed by this magic place…

On Sunday, SB lecture was going to be given in a special place, so we went on Harinam…

This is sweet Jay Gopi chanting…

There was a sweet exchange between this priest and Maharaja… he gave Him a cross…

Just more pictures while we waited for Maharaja…

Then we went to…

Naimisaranya!!! like Maharaja said :) where he gave lecture. Matsya Avatar Prabhu also spoke and we had a beautiful and sweet kirtan…

My friend Elena came that day (I also met her in India)… she is with Krsnaloka Mataji on the right and then with me…

And that’s all that I have. I hope I can get some pictures of the Harinam. We were about 300 devotees, following Maharaja on the beautiful streets of Florence. We were running, jumping, dancing and chanting the Holy Name of the Lord very very Loudly… Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!!!

I pray to be always in the association of  the Vaisnavas.

ys, Sol :)

I wanted to thank also to all the devotees who encouraged me to go on with the blog.

Different body, same soul…

May 8, 2007 · 5 Comments

“As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to
youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death.
A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.”
Bhagavad-gita 2.13

Mini-Nrsimha Caturdasi Feast

May 1, 2007 · 4 Comments

I cooked something for the Lord today to celebrate the appearance day
of Sri Nrsimha!!!The festival will be observed tomorrow at the temple,
but we had a small feast at home today. Eze gave the lecture… he was
very accurate on his explanation of how Lord Nrsimhadev defeated
Hiranyakasipu… then we offered this simple preparations (vegan
burgers with mayonnaise, yellow rice with raisins, salad, apple chutney
and burfi
), then kirtan and finally we honored prasadam :)

I will give you the recipe of the burgers, that are healthy and light. Actually it’s a personal adaptation of an ayurvedic recipe. Today I made the burgers like this:

INGREDIENTS FOR 24 VEGAN BURGERS:

2 cups lentils
7 - 8 cups water
4 Tablespoons rice
1/2 teaspoons yellow asafetida powder
2 teaspoons sunflower oil
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 potato
1 sweet potato
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry ginger
4 Tablespoons chickpea flour
2 eggs replacer. You can make it preparing this mixture: 4
Tablespoons plain flour + 1 teaspoon oil +1 teaspoon baking powder + 4
Tablespoons water
*You can use this replacer for any other recipe (I got it from Kurma Prabhu’s blog).

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lentils + rice + potato + sweet potato + water + asafetida. Cook and drain them.
2. Add the spices and the oil and mix well.
3. Add the egg replacer to the mixture, the salt and the pepper and mix again.
4. Finally, add the chickpea flour.
5. Make the pattys (use the Onigiri technique, dipping your hands in water before making every new patty).
6. You can either pan fry them or bake them. I decided the baking this time. 220º C, for 20 or 30 minutes.

I served them with mayonnaise… you still don’t know how to make eggless mayonnaise??? It’s veeeery easy.

Pour a little bit of milk in a container, maybe 100 ml, then, with the blender in
your hand, pour sunflower oil at the same time you blend it with the milk.
Go on pouring oil till you get the desired thickness. Add 1/2 teaspoon
of salt and a bit of lemon juice. Today I made it with asafetida
(according to Ayurveda, asafetida should be cooked but sometimes I skip
this rules for a higher purpose hehe) and fresh chopped coriander…
very tasty :)

Nrsimhadev Bhagavan ki jay!
