Have a nice Radhastami!

August 29, 2006 · 2 Comments

I’m going to Italy in a few hours. One friend that we hadn’t seen for looong time came to Malaga so we called him for dinner. We had very nice time together. Fortunately he helped me in the kitchen. Thanks Jesus!

There were a few things to arrange for the trip and I have ended up ironing saris and kurtas till now! (almost 3:00am). In 3 hours I have to wake up so I will tell you everything about the trip when I’m back in Spain.

Have a nice Radhastami Festival!

Radharani’s nectarean dream

August 28, 2006 · 1 Comment

Sri Svapna-vilasamrtastaka
Eight Prayers Describing Nectar Pastimes in Her Dream by Srila Visvanath Chakravarti Thakur

Srimati Radharani said: Beloved, in a dream I saw a river shore like the Yamuna here.  There were many expert dancers as in Vrindavan.  There were mridangas and other instruments.  There was a brahmana jewel as splendid as lightning who was tossing the universe into an ocean of pure love.

Sometimes He calls out: “O Krishna!”  and sometimes He sighs: “O Radha, where are You?”  Sometimes He falls to the ground, sometimes He acts wildly, losing all composure, and sometimes He dances ecstatically with His loving associates.  He has made all the residents of this world, from the blades of grass up to Lord Brahma, loudly call out the name of Krishna.

As I gazed at Him, My intelligence became bewildered.  If He is my lover, where am I?  If He is I, where is My lover?  If He is My lover, where am I? As I slept, I became more and more bewildered.

Sri Krishna said: O inquisitive girl, when I showed You Narayana and My other forms You were not surprised.  Why does this brahmana surprise You?  Why does He bewilder You so You say “Who is He?”

After speaking these words to His beloved, the smiling lover, Krishna, touched His Kaustubha jewel.  The jewel, understanding the Lord’s intent, glowed and then showed all the same pastimes and all the moving and non moving entities She saw in her dream.

Srimati Radharani reflected for a moment and said: Beloved, I know what is in Your heart now that makes You smile.  You are He.  What You have said and thought is now clear to Me, and therefore I think I am also He.

Making this Kaustubha jewel, which is so delightful to Us, shine in this way, You have revealed Yourself to all living entities.  By Your own transcendental potency You will appear, display Your pastimes, teach everyone, and again plunge the world into the ocean of pure love.

In the king of Vraja’s presence, the learned Vedic scholar Gargacharya said that You will appear with a yellow complexion.  He did not lie.  This dream of Mine is true.  It is not an illusion.  In this dream I have directly seen You.

If the bumble-bee of the reader’s mind drinks the nectar of this Svapna-vilasamrta, then that intelligent reader will quickly awaken from the dream of materialistic doubt.  Such a reader will attain Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.  He will sport in the ocean of pure love.  He will attain the peerless mercy of the king of Vrindavan.

All glories to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu!

Be our guest!

August 24, 2006 · 5 Comments

Today we had a foggy day…

…but one family friend was coming for prasad so I had to get ready for a nice cookery session. He came to the temple for Janmastami Festival and he liked samosas very much so he wanted some more. I told him that I would fulfill his desire!

After chanting my rounds I started making the panir for the “panir sak” (spinach with fresh home-made cheese) and the dough for the samosas. I made samosas with sweet potato filling cause my brother likes them very much due to their sweet flavor.

This is the filling… also with some potatoes, green pees and cauliflower…

I decided to bake the samosas. Fried samosas are very tasty but for some people they’re not so easy to digest… yes yes, I have this motherly nature…

Before…and after… hmmm they look good!

Then I made the panir sak…with cream (optional ingredient)…

Then a simple yellow rice with black mustard seeds and parsley…

And some fruits with ice-cream and delicious muffins for dessert.

Everything was ready so I made the offering to Lord Krsna…

And that’s it! Simple but pleasing to the heart :)

This is my brother honoring prasad, hehehe (our guest didn’t give me permission to publish his picture on Satoxi’s blog…he is not ready for fame hahaha… but he was veeery satisfied!!! :))

I love cooking for Krsna!

ys, Sol :D

…by the way… my brother says there are many mistakes in my
blog…he describes my English as “bizarre”… so pleeease forgive me!

La bella Italia

August 23, 2006 · 2 Comments

Haribol dear friends!

Next week my brother and I are departing to Vicenza (Italy).

We’ll travel to Venice via Madrid…

This is Venice…

And this is Vicenza…

There are 90km distance from Venice to Prabhupada-desh temple where we plan to stay…

Hare Krsna!

Click here for extra pictures of the temple.

Italy is the country of tomatoes, basil, olives and mozzarella. Italian devotees are well known as expert ice-cream makers. I will tell you when I come back, hehehe (goodbye to my ayurveda diet!!!)

I expect to meet some good friends there and also to get the association of exalted Vaisnavas and serve them.

I wish you a very happy Radhastami Festival!!!

Two naughty boys

August 22, 2006 · No Comments

“…Then mother Yasoda would inform them, “All right, keep your butter and
yogurt carefully so that They may not reach it.” In reply to this, the gopis
said, “Yes, actually we do so, but because we are sometimes engaged in
our household duties, these naughty boys enter our house somehow or
other and spoil everything. Sometimes being unable to steal our butter
and yogurt, out of anger They pass urine on the clean floor and
sometimes spit on it. Just see your boy now–He is hearing this
complaint. All day They simply makes arrangements to steal our butter
and yogurt, and now They are sitting just like very silent good boys.
Just see His face.” When mother Yasoda thought to chastise her boy
after hearing all the complaints, she saw His pitiable face, and
smiling, she did not chastise Him”.

Srila Prabhupada ki jaya!

August 18, 2006 · No Comments

This Festival was really nice.

The feast was cooked by Prabhupada’s disciples. Jagannath Nrsimha Prabhu was head cook that day, but he is not in my photo gallery.

Nira Maya Prabhu made the samosas and Draupadi Mataji fried them…

The nice thing of small temples is that there is always some service to do. They needed some garlands to decorate Prabhupada’s vyasasana and wherever there are flowers I appear :)

Program started at noon. We did some bhajan and then senior devotees shared their realizations with us.
The Vyasapuja 2006 book was offered by Vedavyasa Prabhu, Prabhupada’s disciple and president of the temple.

Suddenly it started to rain…it’s full summer here and it neeeever rains in August, but Prabhupada showered his mercy upon us.

Yadunandana Prabhu read some offerings during the bhoga arati…

…Puspanjali, arati and kirtaaaaan! Nira Maya Prabhu was the leader this time.

And then prasad…

And that’s all by now…till Radhastami :)

Srila Prabhupada ki jaya!

All glories to the Vaisnavas!

Sri Krsna Janmastami II

August 18, 2006 · No Comments

16th August… Sri Krsna Janmastami Festival ki jaya!

When there is some festival I can’t sleep. I start to think in all the things I have to do… then I become so excited that there is no way to close my eyes and stop my mind.

First thing I did in the morning was cooking some sweets for Krsna. Then my brother came with a lot of flowers so we made the decoration for the altar.

Then we did the morning program at home with Eze as pujari…

…and me as… hehehe.

We just moved so we are still arranging the altar. Srila Prabhupada is sitting on his almost finished new vyasasana.

Then we read some Krsna’s pastimes and after some chanting I went to the temple . We were making garlands in a very nice atmosphere. All the devotees were working together just to please the divine couple.

Here you can see Uttara Mataji and Karuna Sakti Mataji fully absorbed in Krsna’s service…

By the devotees mercy, I made Radharani’s hanging (for Her head). Neelam, thank you for teaching me how to make it :)

21:00 the Festival started with some kirtan followed by Laddu-Gopal abhiseka, dancing…

…and drama based on Surdas’ life, the blind sadhu…

…some backstage pictures… from left to right: Arjuna…or Nitai as a ghost (… I’m not sure), Encarnacion as Visakha, Saci as Radharani and… you already know me :)

My mother wanted a picture with Radha and Krsna… and me too :)

00:00 Arati and kirtan!!!

I couldn’t get better pictures at this time. We had veeeeery ecstatic kirtan. We chanted and danced like never before.

Around 1:15 I got to swing Laddu-Gopal and I got prasad with the devotees to my full satisfaction, hehehe.
We came back home around 2:30 or 3:00 pretty exhausted to get ready foooor… Srila Prabhupada Appearance Day Festival ki jaya!

Sri Krsna Janmastami I

August 18, 2006 · 7 Comments

Festivals here were very nice. I think many of you are still tired but fully satisfied.

I will post a few reports of the Festivals celebrated in Malaga (Spain) so I hope you enjoy them!

There is a new Hindu temple in a place called Benalmadena (were I live) and Janmastami was celebrated on the 15th. We were kindly invited so after Yadunandana Prabhu’s seminar we went there.

They had a big altar with many different deities: Laxmi Narayan in the center, then Radha-Krsna, Sita-Rama Laksman Hanuman, Durga and some others that I couldn’t recognize.

They also had some pictures of different spiritual leaders, included Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary, but it was a pleasant surprise to see our founder acarya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada on that wall.

Jaya Srila Prabhupada!

Devakinandana Prabhu leaded a nice kirtan

…and Vedavyasa Prabhu, our temple president, gave an inspiring lecture inviting all the assembled devotees to come to the ISKCON temple the next day.

There was also some dancing program…

and here are some of the dancers…

I went home arround 23:30 to get ready for our Janmastami Festival.

Haribol!

ys, Sol :)
